The stories we share

Stories help people make sense of complicated choices. They can open a conversation or close it too quickly. The useful question is what a story helps us see — and what it leaves outside the frame.

Listening with curiosity

A thoughtful exchange begins with attention. Asking someone how they arrived at a view can reveal more than asking them to defend a label. Listening creates room for a more precise disagreement.

Looking ahead

A better public debate needs both conviction and curiosity. This sample explores how a conversation can hold those qualities together without pretending that every difference is easy to resolve.
